1. This article is about the Occupy Wall Street Protest. This movement is a protest of the people that believe that the taxes that they are paying are unfair and that bankers are being greedy. The article explains two reasons why the people protest: One, because the government is spending too much and should not increase taxes, and two, because the grwth of the power of government is harming the people's liberty.
2. This article connects to what we are learning in class because the protest of Occupy Wall Street relates to the protest against the king during colonial times. In Occupy Wall Street, people are protesting against taxation and government's unexpected growth of power, harming the people's power. In the colonial times after 1763, colonists were upset with the king's taxation, and his use of tyranny to control the colonists. Overall, both situations both exemplify the protests against taxation and tyrannic ideals of power.
3. This article relates to my life as a citizen, because I have my liberty as a citizen, as well as my responsibilities. Many people are protesting against taxation, and the government's overuse of power. Of course I wouldn't want to have these sort of things to happen to me! As a citizen, I don't want to deal with so much tax, especially as with the economy as it is now.
4. I have mixed feelings about the topic of this article. I truly believe that I shouldn't be taxed so much as a result of our government's "foolish" use of power. We all need liberty. However, I think that many of the people protesting should be more responsible. Shouldn't they be responsoble for how they spend their money? If they had been responsible and adapted to how the economy is at the moment, they wouldn't have to get caught up in such ordeals. So overall, I have mixed feelings about this topic.
Kevin, do you think that this is us as people retracing our history's footsteps blindly? A we do seem to do that already do you agree? When it comes protesting and the laws of the nation, government, and other larger powers would you protest? I know many would to fight for their freedom. I favor how you state that you wouldn't like it to happen to as a citizen even at our age.
